i love this guy. nothing groundbreaking here, but oh my god is it fun.

the best way to kick off the new year is by highlighting one of the best songs from last year. actually, that’s probably a better way to end last year…either way, “colors” by between the buried and me was my favorite album of 2007 by far. check out this awesome video of blake richardson (between the buried and me’s drummer) playing along to their song “prequel to the sequel.”
this video has certainly made its rounds, but it never ceases to entertain and intrigue me. i love the ingenuity and sheer skill of this guy. truly an inspiration.
another non-drawing related post, but i had to do it. this stuff inspires me to no end. andrea vadrucci does an amazing rendition of the super mario bros. theme song with a simple drum overlay. as a drummer myself, i think that i can safely say that we all do this when we’re at home practicing all alone. whether it’s a nursery rhyme, some pop song on the radio, or a video game theme, it’s just a natural work of art that flows out. lucky for us, andrea actually went ahead and took it beyond the funny, practice phase and made a sick video of it. this is just great.
oh also, with this video i decided it would be smart to just add a drumming category to the blog. it’s my other passion, so why not embrace it? hopefully you will enjoy the change of pace as much as i do.
i love seeing people taking pop songs like this (which is all this song really is) and adding a little flair to it. in this case, travis barker lays down and great drum track over this fairly simple hip hop beat. gotta love it.
one more quick post for today. cadbury and glass and a half full productions just put up the greatest splash page ever in the history of the internet and i think everyone should check out just how awesome it is.
inspiration for art doesn’t always come through a visual. music plays a huge part for a lot of people, and i am no exception. what you will see here is the work of andre diamant, the one man band known as duracell. as a drummer myself, i really appreciate what he’s doing and as an artist i really admire his creativity and ambition. check out his myspace page for some more videos and enjoy.
